Retirement Recognition Changes?

Human Resources would like our input on how retirement recognition should proceed. The following text is from HR:

One employee association is suggesting that we return to having an annual recognition for retirees. You will recall that we changed this process two years ago. We used to have a reception in the Boardroom co-sponsored by the Retiree Association. The employee associations wanted to have the recognition conducted in the departments. Currently, we send the gift to the department and they are responsible for the retiree reception. Lately we have had an increase in the number of full-time faculty retiring. I would like to know if you want to return to having an annual recognition.
